Wedding outfit planning guide for the groom

A wedding usually has several functions, and each one deserves its own look. Planning early gives enough time for fittings and alterations.

Suggested looks for each function

  • Haldi: light cotton kurta pajama in yellow or white.
  • Mehendi: printed Indo-western or bright Nehru jacket set.
  • Sangeet: a sharp Jodhpuri or modern Indo-western.
  • Wedding: sherwani with safa, mojari and stole.
  • Reception: a tailored suit, tuxedo or bandhgala.

Timeline

  1. Two to three months before: finalise designs and fabrics.
  2. Six to eight weeks before: measurements and first trial.
  3. Two weeks before: final fitting and accessories.
  4. One week before: collect and keep outfits ready.
Can family members match the groom?

Yes. Choose a shared colour family and vary fabric or detailing so the groom still stands out.
